Spring 2010, the Education Outreach department of the Mobile Museum will again participate in "the premier flower and garden event of the greater gulf coast" the Festival of Flowers. For this year's theme Stand by Me, in the Mobile Museum of Art Children's Venue, we will have fresh and thrilling activities for children of all ages all day Saturday, and on Sunday afternoon.

Our 2010 Activities will include:

We Are The World - Design international hands-across-the-world doll shapes. Be inspired by this year's Festival of Flowers theme Stand By Me, and work as an individual or a group to create a unique version of cut-out dolls complete with hair, clothes, etc., that the United Nations would be proud of.

Pop Art Prints - Create art in the style of well known artists like Warhol and Lichtenstein. Participants can use basic printmaking materials to make very meaningful patterns and perhaps make a contemporary ironic art statement - kid style of course!

En Plein Air - It's Art in the open air! Brush up on your French painting technique by using watercolors to capture the scenes around you, your dreams, or just the visions of your imagination.

Flower Fiesta - No need for sunlight, dirt, water, or seeds. Join us and choose the color, shape, petals, etc. to make an out of this world flower perfect for sharing with someone special in no time at all.

Garden Hats - Experience again what has become a Mobile Museum of Art and Festival of Flowers tradition. The crinkles, the wrinkles, the flowers, oh so lovely! Get into the spirit of the celebration of Spring and wear your lovely creation while you visit the other wonderful sights of the Festival.

Colonial Hats - Last year's experiment for the gents will be back by popular demand. Take the ingredients for our garden hat, add a new shape, a few feathers and presto, you have a Yankee Doodle Dandy special edition.

Story time - Take a break and listen to some of you favorite tales. Or maybe you can be the guest reader and share your own version!
